Statistical Poster Competition 2025

The annual Statistical Poster Competition is now open!

Poster requirements
1. Poster must be of A1 size. 3-Dimensional poster will not be accepted. Poster should be easily readable in both physical and digital formats.
2. Any layers of paper on posters must be affixed securely. The poster should be suitable for hanging.
3. Posters must be the original design and creation of the participants themselves. Computer graphics may be used.
4. Subject matter is the choice of the participant(s) or their classmates. A listing of the original data, brief description of method of data collection and purpose of the experiment should also be taped to the back of the poster. Please cite references for published data.
5. Submit the Entry Application form with the poster. Be sure the poster itself gives no information that identifies the team or school.
6. All posters submitted become the property of the sponsors and partners and will not be returned. By submitting a poster entry, participants agree that the poster may be displayed by the sponsors and partners and featured in their publications.

Judging 

Submissions will be evaluated by faculty members from the Department of Statistics and Data Science, NUS, and/or external judges according to the following criteria: 

• Motivation of the analysis and relevance to society/research; originality of topic 

• Organisation of report; readability and quality of language

• Quality of data / data collection methods (if applicable); quality of tables and plots 

• Appropriateness and correctness of statistical procedures 

• Appropriateness of citations and bibliography 

Decisions made by the panel of judges will be final. 

Prizes 

The prizes in each category of the competition are as follows: 

First Prize: $500 Cash
Second Prize: $400 Cash
Third Prize: $300 Cash

All winning entries may be published on the departmental website. 

Digital certificates of participation will be awarded to all participants. Winning entries from last year is published here for reference. The department may choose not to award any prizes if there are no quality submissions.

Fee 

No registration fee.
