We present various studies that investigate the head injury and prevention of secondary school athletes, from Hawaii Concussion Awareness and Management Program (HCAMP). The HCAMP program encompasses numerous projects related to concussion, including physical education, psychology, and biomechanics. The main project investigates an athletic training intervention in American football, where we demonstrate that the adherence of this intervention leads to reduction in head impacts that affect the concussion in athletes. Additionally, as concussion possesses natural link to brain cognition and behavior, many projects enable the use of statistical methods connected to psychology. Finally, we discuss the potential connection with biomechanics that can showcase some of more recently developed statistical techniques. By providing many related projects under one roof, the program touches on wide range of areas, which in turn presents many interesting opportunities for statistical support.
